GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke senior attackman Jordan Wolf and Maryland senior goalie Niko Amato have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Wolf totaled 10 points on seven goals and three assists to lead the Blue Devils to a pair of wins last week. The Wynnewood, Pa., native posted hat tricks in back-to-back games with three goals in a 9-6 win over No. 16/18 Penn and four goals in a 14-6 victory against Stony Brook. Wolf added three assists against the Seawolves to match his single-game career high of seven points.
Wolf has registered at least three points in each of Duke’s four wins this season, while the Blue Devils are 4-0 for the first time since the 2008 season.
Amato made 11 saves in a 16-8 win at No. 2/1 Syracuse on Feb. 22 while helping to hold a dynamic Syracuse offense to 10 goals below its season average. Included in his 11 saves were two on key non-releasable penalties on Maryland. Amato gave up goals on two of Syracuse’s first three shots, but only allowed three more goals in a span of 37:44. The Orange’s final three goals came when the game was out of reach for the Orange as Maryland held a 16-5 lead.
ACC men’s lacrosse action continues tonight at No. 4 Virginia plays at Mount St. Mary’s.
